41st State Junior Athletics Championship 2026 underway

Imphal, August 22 2026: The 41st State Junior Athletics Championship 2026 kicked off today at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium with a healthy participation of 320 athletes from across 15 units.

MMC athletes produced dominating performance to amass 11 medals including 6 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals to remain on top of the tally as UYO gathered 3 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals to stay second while ISA bagged 3 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals.

The day saw Thokchom Panan of MMC clock 21:20.58 to win the U20 Boys' 5000 m race walk gold as Jenish of TYC finished second in 22:14.24 and Elangbam Gungcha of ISA finished third in 22:14.51 .

41st State Junior Athletics Championship 2026 underway

In the U20 Girls' 5000 m race walk event, Th Nigita of MMC clinched the gold with a time of 30:10.26 as Yumnam Bedarani of UYO settled for the silver in 35:44.13 and Himani Patel of NSU settled for the bronze in 39:02.72 .

Ningthoukhongjam Rahul of MMC meanwhile claimed the U18 Boys' 5000 m race walk gold with a time of 26:24.30 as Rojita Laishram of MMC sealed the U18 Girls' 3000 racewalk gold with a time of 21:05.25 .

The day also saw Kh Zaved Hussain of LSA securing the U20 Boys' 5000 m race with a time of 15:54.16 as O Raj of MMC (7.02 s) and Huidrom Sanjana of MMC (8:14 s) won the U16 boys and girls' 60 m races.

Ningombam Echanthoi of BYCL was the fastest in the U18 Girls' 100 m race with a time of 13.25 seconds as Seram Uttam of ISA won the boys' gold in 11.66 seconds.

Meanwhile, Y Babysana of MMCA clocked 13.19 seconds and Rahul Karam of UYO took 10.85 seconds in the U20 Girls and Boys' 100 m races.

Shot Put

Angela Huidrom of PYNK clinched the shot-put gold for U16 girls with a throw of 6.77 m as K Torim Maring of MMC won the U18 girls' gold with a 6.25 m throw, Mananiya Tripathi of NSU won the U20 girls' gold with a 8.33 m thro.

On the other hand, Y Archie of TDC recorded a 9.53 m throw to win the U16 boys' gold as L Rakesh of LSA emerged as the U18 champion with a 11.16 m throw and N Rohit of LSA posted 10.08 m throw to win the U20 boys' gold.

400 m race

Kh Wahid of BYCL clocked 49.99 seconds to win the 400 m race for U20 boys today as Arambam Premita of UYO sealed the U18 girls' gold with a time of 1:05.43.W Sidharth of MMC clinched the U18 boys' 400 m race gold with a time of 49.57 .

Javelin

W Dayananda of ISA was U16 boys' javelin champion at the championship posting a 34.86 m throw as PYNK's Abinash Oinam win the U18 boys' gold with a 44.76 m throw and ISA's Kh Nongpoknganba bagged the U20 boys' gold with a 38.36 m throw.

600 m race

The 600 m race gold for U16 boys went to IC's Ch Yaiphaba who finished the course in 1:25.69 while UYO's Laishram Athona Chanu won the U16 girls' gold in 2:02.83 .

High Jump

MMC's L Tom Cruise leaped 1.60 m to win the U16 boys' high jump gold UYO's as Y Yaikhomba leaped 1.58 m to win the U18 boys' gold and NSU's Daka Guiwat recorded 1.71 m jump for the U20 boys' gold.

1500 m race

LSA's Md Rahis Khan claimed the U20 boys' 1500 m race gold today with the best time of 4:22.47 as MMC's Th Nigita sealed the U20 girls' gold in 5:41.78 .

1000 m medley

MMC's Damenti Sorokhaibam, Huidrom Sanjana, Nevia Laishram and Saina Laishram emerged as the 1000 m medley event gold for U18 girls with a time of 2:39.15 seconds as UYO and TDC teams settled for the second and the third places in 2:50.75 and 2:55.25 .

In the U18 boys' competition, MMC's M Mithoihenba, W Siddharth, Ksh Victor and L Tomcruise ran 2:02.84 to win the gold as UYO quartet clocked 2:03.78 and ISA's team clocked 2:11.74 to make 2-3 podium finishes.
