MMC emerge overall team champions of 44th State Age Group Athletics Championship 2025

Imphal, June 22 2025:
MMC, Mongkhang Lambi emerged overall team champions of the 44th State Age Group Athletics Championship 2025 that concluded today at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.
CWC, Nungoi finished as team runners up in the 3-day championship organised by the Athletics Association of Manipur (AAM).
Nearly 350 athletes from 18 affiliated units participated in the championship.
Md Dawad Khan of BYCL, Nambol was adjudged best male athlete of the championship as MMC's H Sanjana was declared best female athlete.
The podium finishers and other participants were feted in the presence of G Manoranjan Sharma, former general secretary, AAM; Ito Tongbram, general secretary, AAM; S Thambal Sharma, secretary Manipur Masters Athletics Association; K Kosana, retired athletics coach, SAI .
Overall team champions were feted with a cash prize of Rs 3,000 as the runners up team were feted with Rs 2,000 cash prize.
The final day of the championship saw MMC amass 3 gold and 3 silver medals to finish with a massive haul of 20 gold, 13 silver and 5 bronze medals as the closest rival team-CWC added 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals to finish with a total haul of 17 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze medals.
Final day highlight
Thoisana of BYCL clinched the senior men's 400 m hurdles gold taking 1 minute 2.66 seconds as CWC's Surjitkumar who was behind by 1.34 seconds settled for the silver medal.
CWC's Y Gopeshwor in the meantime ran 1:04.62 to seal the bronze medal.
U-16 boys 600 m race in the meantime went to MMC's M Mithoingamba who clocked 1:28.20 as compatriot Th Geetkumar finished second with a time of 1:30.20 and Ideal Club's Ch Yaiphaba finished third with a time of 1:30.61 .
In the U-14 girls' 600 m race, HYC's L Neviya finished on top as she clocked best time of 1:46.29 while ISA's Kh Lanchenbi and BYCL's H Christina respectively recorded 1:54.52 and 1:54.79 to settle for the silver and the bronze medals.
LSA's Kh Javed sealed the U-20 men's 3900 m race title finishing the course in 9:34.16 (9 minutes 34.16 seconds) as CWC's Ringhorsen Muinao took 9:35.17 to seal the silver and CWC's H Jackson settled for the bronze medal taking 10:29.41 .
T Devson in the meantime sealed the U-14 boys' 600 m race gold taking 1:34.77 as KNSAA's Y Punshiba finished second with a time of 1:35.01 and SAN's Kh Raj took 1:35.80 to settle for the bronze medal.
