State Boxing Championship : Pebam Seleucus strikes gold as IW emerge overall team champions

Imphal, June 22 2024:
Pebam Seleucus won a gold medal to help Imphal West seal the overall team title at the State Level Boxing Championship-2024 that concluded yesterday at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
Imphal West collected as many as 16 gold, 12 silver and 16 bronze medals to amass highest 90 points and finish on top as Bishnupur finished runners up with 82 points on the back of 15 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze medals.
Pebam Seleucus won the gold medal in the youth men's 80 kg category with an RSC win in the second round against Md Sharif Khan of Bishnupur in the title bout yesterday.

Earlier in the youth men's 71 kg final, S Yohenba registered an RSC win in the first round over Kh Suraj of Imphal West to add gold to Bishnupur's tally.
Meanwhile in the youth women's final bouts staged later in the day, Elangbam Thoicha of Kakching defeated Thangjam Sneha of Imphal East 5-0 for the 88 kg category crown, Thongbam Luxmi of Bishnupur defeated Yarmi Muivah of Ukhrul by 5-0 unanimous decision for the 50 kg title; Mayengbam Sagar of Bishnupur defeated Soram Luwangleima of Imphal West 4-1 for the 52 kg title; Thokchom Supriya of Bishnupur defeated Thokchom Athoi of Imphal West 5-0 for the 54 kg title and Thiyam Indica of Bishnupur got the better of Chingangbam Purnima of SPL-B 5-0 for the 57 kg category title.
Elite Men
Kakching's Md Najimuddin sealed the elite men's 48 kg category title as Laishram Edipak of Imphal West bagged the 51 kg category gold.
Najimuddin overwhelmed Thokchom Robert of Imphal East 5-0 in the title bout before Edipak registered a similar win over Soibam Yaiphaba of Bishnupur in their final bout.
Pukhrambam Kingson of Imphal West meanwhile bagged the 57 kg category title with an RSC win in second round over his Ukhrul rival Jetngamchalung in the final as Imphal West's K Roshan beat L Radhashyam of Bishnupur 4-1 for the 60 kg title and Imphal West's Moirangthem Chinglemba defeated Sh Arjun Sharma of Bishnupur for the 63.5 kg title.
Best players
Takhellambam Amarjit of Bishnupur was adjudged best male player in the championship as Phurailatpam Herison of Imphal West was declared best loser.
Best female boxer title in the meantime went to Sarangthem Linthoi Chanu of Imphal West as Kakching's Khaidem Mangalthoi was named best loser.
Ukhrul's G Awungshi was on the other hand adjudged best promising male boxer while Lumjailiu Kamei of SPL-B was named best promising female boxer.
