1st Khelo India Beach Games 2025 : Manipur Pencak Silat players bag 8 medals including 4 gold, lift Manipur to second place

Imphal, May 22 2025: Manipur are second in the medal tally on 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals behind Maharashtra as the 1st Khelo India Beach Games 2025 being underway in Diu entered the fourth day.

With Manipur Sepaktakraw men and women teams having added 2 silver medals to the State's tally, Pencak Silat players secured a bulk of 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in the seni (artistic) and landing (sparring or fight) events to help Manipur hold second place behind Maharashtra who had registered 4 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals so far.

The men's team of Yaikhom Rohit, Sinam Chingkhei and Sinam Jeevan bagged a gold medal in the seni event and Sinam Chingkhei and Sinam Jeevan went on to win another gold medal in the seni ganda event.

In landing, Leishangthem Dolly won a gold in the U-45 kg event while Thounaojam Rita won the fourth gold medal in the 45-50 kg category competition.

Meanwhile, Thingbaijam Dayalakshmi and Thokchom Benao Chanu picked a silver medal in the women's ganda event and Hijam Merina fetched the other silver medal in the landing event for 55 to 60 kg category.

The State bronze medallists in the meantime include Dolly Leishangthem who finished third in the female tunggal event and Elangbam Dinesh who suffered a semi-final loss in the men's landing competition for 60-65 kg category.

Yumnam Ranjan also assured Manipur atleast a silver medal as he reached the 65-70 kg category landing final by beating Manoj of Maharashtra by 25-12 points.
