KYPC felicitates fencer, karatekas who shone at international competitions

Imphal, August 20 2026: Kyamgei Youth Pioneer Club (KYPC) today celebrated success of local athletes who shone at the recent international competitions by according a warm felicitation to the athletes at its Kyamgei Heibong Makhong office.

The athletes who were feted in recognition to their achievements include Jetlee Chingakham, who clinched a team event silver medal for India at the recently concluded Commonwealth Fencing Championship-2026 held in Nigeria and 6 karatekas- Pibarenba Chingakham, Chingakham Dumbraj, Korounganba Khaidem, Sanasam Yaiphaba, Laishram Maninganba and Yaiphaba Thokchom who competed and brought home medals from across Senior South Asian Karate Championships 2026 held from July 15 to 19 in Dhaka, 2nd South Asian Open International Karate Championship 2026 held in Kathmandu in August from August 7 to 8 .

Pibarenba won a silver medal in the sub-junior boys' kumite competition for -45 kg category at the Dhaka event as Chingakham Dumbraj and Korounganba Khaidem won a gold medal apiece in the cadet boys' -57 kg category kumite and sub-junior boys' -55 kg kumite competitions respectively at the Kathmandu event.

Sanasam Yaiphaba and Thokchom Yaiphaba, meanwhile won a bronze medal in the cadet boys' -63 kg category kumite event and sub-junior boys' -30 kg kumite event respectively in the Kathmandu event.

Laishram Maninganba, on the other hand picked a gold medal in the Dhaka event by finishing top in the Cadet boys' -52 kg kumite event and a bronze medal in the Kathmandu event.

The club functionaries and dignitaries present also encouraged the local athletes to keep the spirit high and bring more laurels to the Nation and the State.
