'Intense training on' : State gymnasts eye more medals in 38th National Games

Imphal, January 20 2025:
Intense training is on for 10 State gymnasts who are participating in the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14 .
Brought 3 gold in the last National Games, the gymnasts this time are looking to break the ceiling and win more medals.
The 10 gymnasts include three men and seven women.
The men gymnasts are S Ruban Meitei, Okram Umajit Singh and Mutum Romesh Singh.
The women gymnasts include Oinam Bandana Devi, Ariha Pangambam, Huirem Jesika Devi, Leishilembi Chabungbam, Anjori Pangambam, Maliyani Konsam and RK Thoithoilembi Chanu.

Besides State Technical official Yumnam Ranjan, Waikhom Inaocha Singh will lead the team as manager.
Ch Prithibilal Singh (WAG) and N Ranjita (Aerobic) have been named as team Coaches.
The gymnasts will compete in 5 Gymnastic events-Men's Artistic Gymnastic (MAG), Women's Artistic Gymnastic (WAG), Men's and Women's Aerobic Gymnastic Individual, Mixed Pairs and Gymnastic Trio.
During a training session at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium today, Technical official Ranjan said, "Intense training is on for the State gymnasts, and the 13-member team including team managers and coaches are fully prepared for the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand" .
Gymnast S Ruban Meitei is presently undergoing coaching in Pune.
He will represent the State and compete in the MAG-FE.
O Bandana, who is undergoing training here in Imphal will take part in the WAG event.
Ariha Pangambam, Huirem Jesika Devi and Okram Umajit Singh will compete in the Aerobic Gymnastic Individual category.
Mutum Romesh and RK Thoithoilembi Chanu will participate in Mixed Pairs category.
Anjori Pangambam, Maliyani Konsam and Leishilembi Chabungbam will compete in the Gymnastic Women's Trio.
Manipur team recently won 5 gold and 2 bronze medals in the All Age Group Aerobic Gymnastics National Championships held in Jammu and Kashmir from January 10 to January 13 .
"The gymnasts are motivated by their recent success.
The training being given to them will help them prepare for better performance in the Games," Yumnam Ranjan said.
Notably, only four State gymnasts qualified in the 37th National Games and they won 3 gold medals--S Ruban in Artistic; Ariha Pangambam in Aerobic Individual; Ariha, Anjori and Leishilembi in Trio.
"Only four gymnasts qualified in the last National Games and we secured two gold medals in Aerobic Gymnastics.
This time, eight gymnasts have qualified for Aerobic Gymnast.
We're expecting better results with the blessing of the Almighty," Yumnam Ranjan said.
