THAU win inaugural MNCA U-23 Women's One Day Trophy title

THAU, Thangmeiband lifted the title trophy of the 1st edition of MNCA U-23 Women's One Day Trophy with an 88-run thrashing of FORCE, Kshetrigao in the final match this afternoon at Kongba Dhobi Lampak.
THAU stacked up 156/9 in 35 overs after opting to bat first this morning before restricting FORCE to 68/9 in response to seal the title victory today.
THAU had a slow start to their innings and lost wickets in regular intervals despite Usham Robeni (17 off 22), Thoudam Niruta (16 off 17) and Ahongsangbam Thoithoibi (15 off 26) and Moirangthem Creety (13 off 25) trying their best to keep up the strike.

With Rahamatun Khanam (3/16), Barkatun Khanam (2/44), Farjiya (1/24), Khadija (1/18) and E Firdos Hasina (1/18) proving effective, THAU were reduced to 108/9 but Konjengbam Nonibala 25 off 48 and Hijam Malemkhombi 11 off 24 withstood late pressure to add an unbeaten 48-run last wicket partnership to take THAU to 156/9 in the allotted 35 overs.
Chasing 157 for the win, FORCE had a stuttering start and slumped to 37/4 in 12.2 overs as Haorunbam Kiranbala and Hijam Malemkhombi picked a wicket apiece and Ahongsangbam Thoithoibi claimed two wickets.
Thoithoibi continued to spin web around the FORCE batters and undone Barkatun Khanam for highest 20 off 35 and incoming Sumeiya Shahni in the second and third delivery of the 14th over to leave FORCE tattering at 40/6 and complete her haul of four wickets (4/13 in 7 overs that include three maidens) .
Naoroibam Sophiya further reduced FORCE to 58/7 by getting rid of Khadija in the 27th over before Brahmacharimayum Seterny further piled pressure by trapping Wakila Shani lbw on 3 and bowling out Nazmin Khanam in the fourth and last delivery of the 34 over.
Farjiya 4 off 24 and E Firdos 0 off 4 added just two runs in the last over to finish their innings at 68/9 .
Winners THAU walked away Rs 50,000 richer and as FORCE settled for the runners up prize of Rs 30,000 and a trophy.
Ahongsangbam Thoithoibi who starred with the ball was adjudged player of the final match and feted with a cash prize of Rs 2,000 and a trophy.
SHADOW's Hanglem Priyanshee who picked 17 wickets in 5 innings and Sapam Kebriya who scored 319 runs in 5 innings were also feted with highest wicket taker and highest run getter awards carrying Rs 2,500 cash and a trophy each as FORCE's Barkatun Khanam who picked 13 wickets and scored 214 runs in 6 innings was adjudged player of the series and feted with a cash prize of Rs 4,000 and a trophy.
