Imphal, September 18 2026: Defending champions Manipur are yet again into the final of the Dr Talimeran Ao Junior Girls' NFC (Tier I) as they overcame Jharkhand 4-2 on penalties in a semi-final clash of the competition yesterday at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

Group A winners Manipur and Group C winners Jharkhand remained unseparated at 1-1 till the end of the regulation time before the winners were decided via penalty shoot-out.

Neither team were able to find the breakthrough in the first half but they momentum shifted after the lemon break with both teams putting in more effort to find the breakthrough.

Off a fine move, Usha Kumari beat Manipur custodian L Sonia in the 50th minute to put Jharkhand ahead.

Manipur fought back with a series of runs but were denied until Thangjam Victoria Devi salvaged the draw in the 84th minute.

With the score levelled at 1-1, the two sides kept searching for the winner but they failed to materialise their chances, stretching the game to the penalty shoot-out.

In the shoot-out, Mangaleibi Irom, Dasila Senjam, Agunwangliu and Rinchuila Gangmei found the target for Manipur to earn the final ticket.

Manipur will play the winners between Group B and D in the final match slated for September 25 .
