35th State Age Group Aquatic C'ship : CSC continue to stay on top of tally with 20 medals

Imphal, April 16 2019: CSC continued their medal haul to remain on top of the medal tally in the 35th State Age Group Aquatic Championship 2019 being organised by Manipur Swimming Association at Swimming Pool, Khuman Lampak.

CSC have so far secured 13 gold and 7 silver medals to stay on top of the tally and boost their title hope while MGMC are following at the second spot with a total of 5 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze medal at the end of the second day.

Backstroke events on Day 2 .

L Lanchenba Meitei (42.886 seconds) of CSC and H Domba Sharma (45.096 seconds) of the same unit finished first and second in the 50 m backstroke event for Boys IV age-group to win the gold and the silver medal respectively while Kh Monish Singh of Ideal finished third to claim the bronze medal.

In the 50 m backstroke event for Boys III age group, Kh Goutam Singh of MGMC clocked 37.723 seconds to fetch the gold while his compatriot H Telheiba finished second to claim the silver with a time of 40.278 seconds.

Richie Achom of NLM was able to win the bronze medal finishing the course in 42.919 seconds.

For Boys II 50 m backstroke event, CSC's S Athouba Meitei laid his hand on the gold medal making the best time of 32.952 seconds while his unit mate H Alish Singh clinched the silver medal with a time of 34.433 seconds.

Reekender Achom of NLM was able to win the bronze medal taking 37.354 seconds.

Breaststroke Events .

Matilda Laithangbam of CSC clinched her second gold medal at the championship finishing the 200 m breaststroke event for Girls II category in 3 minutes 17.463 seconds.

In the Boys II 200 m breaststroke event, Mahananda Thokchom of MGCM claimed the gold medal taking 2 minutes 51.808 seconds while Telheiba S of NLM was able to win the silver with a time of 2:57.130 .

K Malemnganba Meitei of MGMC finish third in this event by taking 3:06.252.50 m breaststroke title for Boys I category went to L Ricky Singh of WYLCO who took 32.970 seconds while S Punshiba Singh of MGMC (37.891 seconds) and Sayonganba Meitei of HLSYDO (46.992 seconds) finished second and third to respectively win the silver and the bronze medal.

In the 50 m breaststroke event for Girls II category, Matilda L of CSC bagged yet another gold medal with a time of 41.936 seconds while Th Adishri of MGMC (47.588 seconds) and G Lena of NLM (1:02.498 seconds) settled for the silver and the bronze medals.

Meanwhile 50 m breast-stroke event title for Boys IV age group went to H Domba of CSC who took 49.249 seconds.

L Lanchenba Meitei of CSC (49.321 seconds) and Kh Monish of DSA (57.926 seconds) bagged the silver and the bronze medal of this event respectively.

Butterfly Events .

Hiren Shagolshem of MGMC who claimed the 200 m individual medley title for Boys I age group fetched another gold medal in the 100 m butterfly events with a time of 1 minute 5.610 seconds while S Punshiba Singh from the same unit bagged the silver medal taking 1 minute 14.799 seconds.

In the 50 m butterfly event for Girls II age group, Dekalu Th Panmei of CSC who grabbed freestyle gold, took 31.365 seconds to win another gold while Adishree Thounaojam of MGMC finished second with a time of 32.193 seconds.

Lena of NLM was able to win the bronze medal with a time of 1:00.641 .

L Lanchenba Meitei of CSC also won another gold medal in the 50 m butterfly event finishing the course in 44.526 seconds while his compatriot H Domba Sharma finished second with a time of 54.487 seconds and Kh Monish of Ideal Club (1:30.536) was able to bag the bronze medal.

In the Boys III 50 m butterfly event, Th Goutam of MGMC made the best swim in 31.517 seconds to bag his third gold medal at the tournament while H Telheiba Singh of MGMC (34.262 seconds) and Richie Achom of NLM (41.678 seconds) secured the second and the third spot respectively.

Th Goutam won his fourth gold in the 100 m butterfly event where in he clocked 1 minute 14.083 seconds while RK Wanglensana of SEDOC bagged the silver medal with a time of 1 minute 59.215 seconds.

L Ritika Chanu of CSC also won a gold medal in the 100 m butterfly event for Girls III age group taking 1 minute 27.716 seconds.

Freestyle event .

S Athouba of CSC was able to add another gold medal to his unit's tally by finishing first in the 400 m freestyle event today.

He took 5 minutes 11.063 seconds in this event to win the gold while his compatriot, L Rakesh (5:42.116) and MGMC's S Rahul Singh (5:48.075) bagged the second and third spot.

Diving events .

L Dexson of Ideal was able to win three gold medals today in various diving events for Boys III age group.

Dexson claimed the high board title securing 206 points before clinching 3m springboard and 1m springboard titles amassing 271.50 and 257.10 points respectively.

M Nurjit Meitei of MGMC bagged the 1 m springboard title by collecting 313.70 points.

The championship participated by 105 male and 65 athletes from across 18 affiliated units of Manipur Swimming Association will culminate tomorrow.
