State fencers finish team runners up at Cadet Nationals

Imphal, September 14 2025: State fencing team signed off the 20th Cadet National Championships hosted in Haldwani, Uttarakhand from September 8 to 13 with a haul of 6 medals including 1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.

T Mangaleibi made sure Manipur return with a gold medal from the championship producing a top notch performance in the women's individual foil event final.

Mangaleibi also won a team event bronze medal alongside H Tonibia, L Thoithoi and N Rashina at the championship.

K Prithibiraj in the meantime emerged the only silver medallist for Manipur in the individual foil event.

He also contributed another silver medal to the State's tally finishing second in the foil team event with N Tamnganba, A Henthoisana and N Ritankumar.

N Saolin, Th Kishorjit, Ng Mangangba, and N Marget also won Manipur a silver medal in the men's sabre competition as women's sabre team comprising A Florina, N Payal, P Babydaina and K Yaipharembi suffered semifinal exit to settle for a bronze medal.

The 27-member State team were led by coaches H Suranjoy and S Ranjit and managed by S Jayenta.
