Thang-Ta institutes pay homage to State heroes on Patriots' Day

As observed across the State, Thang-Ta institutes observed the Patriots' Day and paid homage to Bir T ikendrajit, Thangal General and all other fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Manipur's sovereignty in and after 1891 Anglo-Manipuri War.
Mangang, Luwang, Khuman, Thang-Ta and Cultural Sindamsang also joined in commemorating the State heroes in a function held at Khongman Mangjil Mamang Mill Leirak.
Floral tributes and Thang-Ta salutation were offered in honour of the martyrs during the programme held in the presence of Kangjam Ranjana, secretary, Huyel Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Association, Irilbung; Leishangthem Priya, secretary, Mangang, Luwang, Khuman, Thang-Ta and Cultural Sindamsang; Laishram Sanatombi, Principal, Mangang, Luwang, Khuman, Thang-Ta and Cultural Sindamsang as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, the Principal of Mangang, Luwang, Khuman, Thang-Ta and Cultural Sindamsang underscored the significance of the observance.
Remembering the heroic acts of the great freedom fighters is the duty of all and it will surely do a long way in enhancing the feeling of patriotism among youth, she said.

Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur
Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur also observed the day at its office at Yumnam Huidrom.
The association, in a press release, said that the programme was attended by association president Huidrom Premkumar; secretary Heikrujam Cha Babu and president of Bishnupur District Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association Thiyam Shantikumar Luwangcha as presidium members.
Artistes of the Association, players and officials also attended the programme, it said.
The speakers at the occasion paid beffiting tributes to the State heroes who stood up and fought bravely against the mighty British in the 1891 Anglo-Manipuri War despite possessing inferior weaponry and said that being the descendants of such brave people is a matter of great pride.
Oja Huidrom Premkumar also stressed on the importance of following the footsteps of the brave forefathers and striving for self-reliance and independence, it said.
AMHLL
The Apunba Manipur Huyel Lanlong Lup (AMHLL) and other schools also joined in paying homage to the State's Patriots'.
In a press release, AMHLL said that Thang-Ta learning and teaching equipment were handed over to St John English School, Nambol as a part of the observance.
The association also reaffirmed their commitment to promote Thang-Ta on the occasion and sought support towards the cause.
MEEHULS
The Meetei Enatki Huyen Langlon Sindam Shanglen (MEEHULS) also commemorated the brave heroes of the State in an observance held today at its Khongman Okram Chuthek office.
During the programme, the importance of indigenous martial artform Thang-Ta in safeguarding the sovereignty of the State was fondly recalled.
The gathering also stressed on the importance of upholding culture, discipline, identity and other social aspects that distinguish Manipur from others, it said.
HLMTTCA
The Huyel Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association (HLMTTCA) also paid rich tributes to State's Patriots during a programme held in the presence of association Gurus, instructors and artistes.
Padmashree Kakchingtabam Sanathoiba Sharma presided the function as the chief guest of the observance, said HLMTTCA in a release.
Thang-Ta salutations and floral tributes to the photos of the "Patriots" including Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General, Paona Brajabashi marked the programme, it said.
Lauding the selfless and sacrificial spirit of the Patriots, the speakers also stressed on the importance of embracing their values of courage, resilience, and sacrifice, it said.
The message of unity and peace were also rung out at the occasion, it said.
Neinasang Club
Neinasang Club, Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai also observed the day in the presence of advisors to the club and office bearers.
The students of LAAMAN Thang-Ta paid Thang-Ta salutations before offering tributes to the brave forefathers who laid down their lives for the sake of motherland.
Recitation of poems dedicated to the Patriots by local students, speeches by presidium members and offering tributes marked the event, said Neinasang club in a statement.
