3rd MNCA U-15 Girls One Day Trophy : THAU, AKSDO register identical 8-wicket wins to qualify for semis

THAU, Thangmeiband overwhelmed YPHUC by 8 wickets to finish Group B runners up in the 3rd MNCA U-15 Girls One Day Trophy today at THAU ground.
YPHUC, who had won twice in previous three matches and THAU, who had shared points with FORCE in a tied match and beaten STYCC by 263 runs were both in the contention for the runners up spot and the remaining semi-final berth after SHADOW consolidated themselves on top of the group with four of four wins.
THAU, however, emerged the stronger team as they bundled out YPHUC for 51 runs in 26.5 overs after choosing to bowl first and cruised to the target within 15.2 overs at the cost of two wickets.
Wangkhem Nganbi (3/3 in 4.5 overs), Wangkhem Nganthoi (2/6 in 6 overs) and Marvi Maibam (2/10 in 5 overs) helped THAU tear apart YPHUC line up today before 31 extras and small but valuable contributions from Urvashi 9 not out off 45 balls and Marvi Maibam 8 not out off 11 balls sealed the victory.
Thadoi Maibam, who scored 6 off 46 balls, emerged the top scorer in the dismal YPHUC innings that also saw Chingangbam Preety (1/13) and Mutum Dolly (1/4) of THAU sharing two wickets.
For YPHUC, Suchitra Devi Waikhom (1/10) and Sarangthem Ester (1/14) shared the two wickets in a lost cause.
Wangkhem Nganbi Chanu was declared player of the match.
In a Group A match staged elsewhere at Kongba Dhobi Lampak, AKSDO defeated MPA, Thounaojam by 8 wickets to end their campaign with 4 wins.
The result also assured them a top-two finish alongside PTRC, who had won four of four matches and eventually a semi-final ticket.
MPA opted to bat first but slumped to 43 all out in 22.2 overs as Henthoisana Takhellambam (3/8) and Saikhom Priya (3/15) produced incisive bowling performances for AKSDO before they cruised to the target in 10 overs losing 2 wickets.
Sapam Devia Devi on 5 was the highest run getter for MPA in the first innings that saw Laishram Linthoi, Lucyrani Khundrakpam, Laishram Yaiphabi and Laishram Anju chipped in a wicket apiece for AKSDO .
Chasing 44 for the win, Laishram Kalpana 13 off 19 balls and Henthoisana Takhellambam 10 off 23 balls set the momentum before Laishram Linthoi 3 not out and Lucyrani 2 not steered the team to the win.
Salainganbi Thokchom (1/8) and Laishram Bandana (1/2) picked a wicket apiece for MPA .
Saikhom Priya of AKSDO was adjudged player of the match.
