Imphal, March 13 2021:
YWC, Langthabal secured a 94 run victory against THAU, Thangmeiband today in the fourth match of the relegation round in the MNCA Elite Tournament to distance themselves from relegation threat for the time being.
With THAU being pushed to the bottom of the relegation round table after two straight losses and REYS having successfully avoided relegation scare with two straight wins, the winners between YWC and Al-Ameen will be the second team to avoid relegation this season.
The losers of the match and THAU will be relegated to Super Plate Group.
YWC, Langthabal were toss winners today at Luwangpokpa Cricket stadium before they sealed the game.
Choosing to bat first, the Langthabal team stacked up a total of 204 runs for 8 in the stipulated 40 overs and bundled out THAU for 110 runs in 27.1 overs.
YWC faced stiff opposition from THAU bowlers early on and were reduced to17 for 1 as S Robinson, who came out with P Prakashmani to open, departed on 1 to Ranjan Singh Laishram.
Ngangbam Biswash too had a short stay as he was removed on 3 yet again by Ranjan leaving YWC on 22 for 2 in the 5th over.
Despite losing his partners in quick succession, P Prakashmani remained calm to keep the scoreboard ticking with Ng Maheshkumar (19) and was just three runs away from making his half century.
To everyone's surprise, U-16 player P Rohit made his senior competition debut today, anchored the innings with an unbeaten 39 and forged a 45 run partnership with Thokchom Kishan (32) enroute to YWC's 204 total.
Ranjan (3/39) and Krishnachandra (3/46) were commendable bowlers THAU had today but lack of efficient batting line up held them back.
They were never seen in contest today as Beconboss was out on a golden duck and Santoshkumar had to retire on 16 .
Rajesh, Rohen and RK Amarjit too went out on duck as Rabikanta topscored with 29 runs before their chase slumped at 110 for 9 with YWC bowlers making a concerted effort.
YWC's U-19 player Y Vivek, who was also making his senior debut, too excelled in bowling as he scalped two for 13 runs in 5 overs in THAU's innings.
M Subash also picked up two wickets while Th Kishan, Ng Bingson, P Prakashmani and Puinachandra Anoubam chipped in with a wicket apiece.
