Khemchand fetes CWG medallist Bindyarani

Imphal, August 12 2026: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today met and congratulated weightlifter Bindyarani Devi Sorokhaibam, who won a bronze medal in the women's 58 kg weightlifting event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026 .

During the interaction, the Chief Minister congratulated Bindyarani Devi for bringing laurels to Manipur and the country through her outstanding performance at the international sporting event.

He appreciated her dedication, discipline and determination, stating that her achievement would inspire young sportspersons of the State to pursue excellence in sports.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the significant contribution of sportspersons from Manipur to India's achievements in international sporting events.

He expressed hope that Bindyarani Devi would continue to work hard and achieve greater success in her future endeavours.

The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to Bindyarani Devi for her future competitions and urged her to continue inspiring the younger generation through her achievements.

Bindyarani Devi told the Chief Minister that she will not participate in the forthcoming Asian Games as she plans to change her weight category and concentrate for the next Olympics.

She also appealed to the youths of the State that maintaining healthy lifestyle and discipline is the key to success.
