66th State Open Badminton Championships : K Dingku, Bidyasagar Salam progress into men's singles semi-finals

Imphal, August 12 2022: Bishnupur's Konthoujam Dingku and Hemam Malemnganba, Imphal West's Bidyasagar Salam and Imphal East's Sirzeet Moirangthem won to progress into men's singles semi-finals of the 66th State Open Badminton Championships being underway at DM College campus under the aegis of Manipur Badminton Association.

In the first quarter final match of the men's singles competition, Konthoujam Dingku outlasted Imphal East's Jomi Singarn 21-16 21-18 before Bidyasagar Salam got past his compatriot Chingangbam Ritesh 21-19 21-16 .

Sirzeet Moirangthem then outlasted Leishangthem Unilkumar of Thoubal 21-17 21-16 before Hemam Malemnganba eased past Kh Allwinson of ACDBA 21-9, 21 -8 to complete the semi-final line up.

The semi-final line up of the women's singles competition was completed today.

In the quarter final matches, Ksh Maheshwari saw off her compatriot Lourembam Sheetal 21-9 21-2; Sagorika Naorem of Kakching egded out Imphal East's Yumlembam Dhanabati 21-19 4-21 21-10; Angita Naorem of Imphal West outlasted Mayanglambam Elina of KDBA 21-11 21-12 and Imphal West's Vilinda Huidrom beat her compatriot Leimapokpam Diana 21-14 23-21 .

The final line up of U-9 Girls' singles, U-11 Girls' singles, U-13 Girls' singles, U-11 boys' singles, U-15 boys's singles, U-17 boys singles competitions were also completed today.

Memita Khwairakpam of IW will take on Sarungbam Archana of IE in the U-9 girls singles title clash.

Memita Khwairakpam reached the final beating Ksh Chinglembi of Kakching 21-12 21-17 while S Archana beat BDBA's Bebina Thangjam 21-12 21-20 .

In a semi-final clash of U-11 girls singles event, Kimkim Khongsai of Kangpokpi beat JDBA's Ningthoujam Henthoi 21-4 21-7 to set up final date with Linthoi Huirem of BDBA who beat Sarungbam Archana 10-21 21-12 21-7 .

In the U-13 girls's singles competition, Jianna Lairenlakpam of IW outlasted Raj Kumari Irina of 21-4 21-12 to set up final date with Chanulembi Sapam who knocked out Thangjam Roselinda 21-8 21-12 in an all IW semi-final clash.

Meanwhile in the U-11 boys singles semi-final matches, Thokchom Yangbam of IE edged out Mangalsana Sapam of IW 21-16 21-6 while Shriyan Lairenmayum of IE breezed past BDBA's Narengbam Maxson 21-8 21-14 .

In the U-15 boys singles semi-final clashes, Vemai Kyoveio of SDBA edged out IW's Thokchom Hursh 21-115 19-21 21-16 and Shaikhom Gung of Thoubal outlasted SDBA's L Kalo Truman 21-16 21-16.Hemam Malemnganba in the meantime set up an all Bishnupur U-l7 boys singles final date with Khwairakpam Amarjit.

Malemnganba entered the final with a 21-16 21-11 thrashing of compatriot Brikson Singh before Amarjit got the better of Kakching's Elangbam Richard 21-18 21-18 .
