SWC-Waikhong emerge champions of 21st Ksh Leihao Devi Memorial Super Division Football League-2024

Imphal, July 12 2024: Social Welfare Club-Waikhong (SWC-W) were crowned champions of the 21st edition of Ksh Leihao Devi Memorial Super Division Football League-2024 organised by District Sports Association Kakching at DSA playground.

SWC-W defeated Sena Athletes' Organisation (SAO), Kakching thanks to H Tombi's solitary goal to sweep the 8-team league tournament with 7 of 7 wins and finished on top with 21 points.

Youth Welfare Union (YWU), Kakching finished runners up in the tournament on 18 points with only a loss conceded to SWC-W in 7 matches while SWC-K finished third on 12 points off 4 wins.

LYA, Wangoo and UBSA, Mantak finished 7th and 8th in the tournament and are now relegated to 1st Division Football League.

In the ultimate league match staged this afternoon, SAO and SWC-W started cautiously and entered into the break goalless despite sharing few close calls.

Even a draw was more than enough for unbeaten SWC-W to seal the tournament title but they found the winner late in the 79th minute courtesy of leading goal scorer for the team H Tombi.

It was H Tombi's 8th goal in the tournament having scored two trebles in the earlier fixtures.

The result left SAO in fourth place with 12 points behind SWC-K, who also finished with 12 points but had a better goal count (22 against SAO's 9) .

M Ratan Kumar, president All Manipur Football Association; Ksh Ibobi, president of DSA Kakching and Dr Th Ojit, president, president of Representatives of Lois witnessed the final match as dignitaries who also led in felicitating the winners.
