3th MU Annual Sports Meet concludes

Imphal, February 12, 2012: The 3th Annual Sports Meet 2011-12 of the Manipur University has culminated today at the Football Ground of the University.

The Valedictory Function was graced by Vice Chancellor of the university Prof HNK Sarma and Dean of Students Welfare, MU Prof Th Ratankumar as Chief Guest and President respectively.

Assistant Director of Sports, MU Dr Ch Pradeep also attended the function as Guest of Honour.

In the sport meet, Kh Yaingamba Khanganba (Commerce), Th Rajeshwar (adult Education) and Thaemilung Rongmei (geography) stod first, second and third positions in men's 100 mt race.

In women's 100 mt race, Jerina Chanu (Physical Edn and Sports Science), H Sarju (Life Sciences) and MC Linthoingambi (Phy Edn and Sports Sc) bagged the first, second and third places.

In men's high jump, Romen Soibamcha (Phy Edn & SportsSc),A Kaikho (Commerce) and M Prafullokumar (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) emerged first, second and third positions.

In women's high jump, Aribam Monica (Phy Edn & Sports Sc), MC Linthoingambi (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) and Akoijam Sushmita Chanu (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) stood first, second and third positions.

In men's long jump Milanum Haokip (Pol Sc), M Menakeshore (Comp Sc) and Romen Soibamcha (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) emerged first, second and third positions.

In women's long jump, TD Choineirein Chiru (linguistic) and Aribam monika (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) bagged the first and second spot while the third spot was shared by K Bidyalakshmi (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) and W Asha (Commerce).

In men's Javelin Throw, Sh Sanayaima (Commerce), Romen Soibamcha (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) and Thangku (Pol Sc) bagged the first, second and third places respectively.

In women's Javelin Throw, Malinibala (Commerce), Thuandailui (Edn) and Linda M (life Sc) won first, second and third places.

In men's discus throw, Kh Yaingamba Khanganba (Commerce), Jothan (Commerce) and Shimray (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) stood first, second and third positions respectively.

In women's discus throw, K Bidyalakshmi (Phy Edn & Sports Sc), Thongam Devala (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) and K Premita (Geography) bagged the first, second and third positions respectively.

In men's shot put, Thainilung Rongmei (Geography), Englancha (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) and Ginleishang (Physics) emerged first, second and third positions respectively.

In women's shot put, Boinu Lamneichong Haokip (Edn), K Premita (Geography) and W Leimatombi (Manipuri) won first, second and third places respectively.

In indoor events, Oinam Ajit (Comp Sc), Haobam Raju (Stat) and Rajkumar Basanta (Physics) emerged first, second and third places respectively in men's chess.

In women's chess, Khumanthem Jimmy (Comp Sc), Pemreichon Ramror (Eco) and Sapam Manitombi (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) stood first, second and third places respectively.

In men's carrom (individual), Akoijam Kapil (Comp Sc), Yengkhom Romendro (Chem) and Rajprabhakar Wangkheimayum (Phy Edn & Sports Sc) bagged the first, second and third places respectively.

In women's carrom (individual), Elangbam Ningolleima (Mathematics), RK Monika (Library & Information Sc) and Hijam Sanatombi Chanu (Pol Sc) stood first, second and third positions respectively.

In men's carrom (doubles) the pair of Yumlembam Sanalemba and Nongmaithem Bishojit of Physic Dept grabbed the first position.

The pair of Ningthoujam Geetchandra and Oinam Dhanachandra of Library & Information Sc won the second place and the third place was won by the pair of Maisnam Premkumar and Thokchom Jameskumar of Mathematics Dept.

In women's carrom (doubles), the pair of Potshangbam Diana and Laimayum Bijaya of Lib & Info Sc won first positions.

The pair of K Lucky Chanu and A Premlata of Geography Dept won second place while the third place was won by the pair of Ningombam Joymala and Shalini Tokpam of English Dept.

In Men's Singles Table Tennis, Yengkhom Romendro (Chem), Hemam Nandakeshor (Manipur Inst of Management Studies) and Thongsianmung Buasing (Pol Sc) emerged first, second and third positions respectively.

In Women's Singles Table Tennis, S Nupiton Chanu (Manipur Inst of Management Studies), Shalini Tokpam (Eng) and RK Monika (Library & Info Sc) won the first, second and third places respectively.

In Men's Doubles Table Tennis, the pair of Oscar Ningombam and Wahengbam Jurjit of Life Sciences Dept won the first places.

The pair of Thongsianmung Buansing and Abraham Rang of Pol Sc Dept won the second spot and the third spot was won by the pair of RK Kangleikhomba and H Romeo of Manipuri Dept.

In Women's Doubles Table Tennis, the pair of H Jina and S Nupiton of Manipur Institute of Management Studies emerged first position.

The second place was won by the pair of Shalini Tokpam and S Iraileima Chanu of English Dept while the pair of Nongom Lucky and Nongthombam Jenita of Life Sciences Dept won the third spot.

In team events, Commerce Department emerged winner of Men's Sepak Takraw while Adult Education Department emerged second.

In Men's Volleyball, Physical Education and Sports Sciences won the winners title and the runners up title was bagged by Commerce Department.

Education Department won the Women's Volleyball and Life Sciences Department was placed in the second spot.

Men's Football was won by Political Sciences Department and the runners up title was won by Manipur Institute or Management Studies.

The title of Best Discipline Team was adjusted to Manipur Institute of Management Studies.

Overall Team Champion's trophy was awarded to Physical Education and Sports Sciences who bagged 51 points and Commerce Department who bagged 40 points won the Runners Up trohpy.
