Vinoo Mankad Trophy Plate Group : Danish's all round feat helps Manipur steamroll Meghalaya by 172 runs for second win

Md Danish Khan blazed an unbeaten half century and picked four wickets to fashion Manipur a comprehensive 172-run victory against Meghalaya in their second Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2025-26 Plate Group tie.
Manipur, who had overwhelmed Arunachal Pradesh by 61 runs for the first win on October 9, won the toss and opted to bat first at Cricket Stadium, Sector-16, in Chandigarh.
Riding on half centuries from Thokchom Lucky and Md Danish Khan, Manipur erected a competitive total of 236 runs for all wickets down in 43 overs.
M Kharpuri shone with the ball for Meghalaya with a fifer in the first innings but Md Danish led from the front to dismantle line up before they collapsed at 64 in just 22.3 overs.
Early in the first innings, Manipur had a steady start with the opening partnership between Thoiba and Lucky gathering 48 runs before Thoiba was dismissed for 37 runs by Angkit in the 4th delivery of the 6th over.
Lucky then stood firm to stitch another crucial 60-run partnership for the second wicket with Sougaijam Robinson who was trapped lbw by M Kharpuri for the second wicket.
Manipur further slipped to 165 for 5 as Kharpuri wenton to dismiss incoming Max (1) and Thomsan (11) cheaply before Ak Lohar undone Urikhinbam Rain (9) for the fifth wicket in the final delivery of the 30th over after he helped Lucky complete the half century mark.
Lucky however holed out to GH Thakuria off the bowling of BJ Makdoh on 66 (off 70 balls, 6 fours and 1 six) for the 6th wicket in the 5th delivery of the 31 st over.
The Danish who came in at no 8, saw Zamir and Tamarland being dispatched cheaply by Kharpuri as the scoreboard read 168.He however showed no sign of fear and single handedly blasted 9 fours and 3 sixes to score an unbeaten 59 till his final partner Oinam Reolin was trapped lbw in the final delivery of the 43 rd over by A Mark who had early bowled out Yumnam Chingkheinganba.
M Kharpuri eventually returned with the best bowling figures of 5/32 in 10 overs as A Marak posted 2/39 in 5 overs.
Chasing 237 for the win, Meghalaya had a sloppy start and were reduced to 38/4 within 10 overs with Md Danish sweeping the top four batters before Chingkheinganba got rid off G Narleng on 25 for the fifth wicket as the scoreboard read 46 after 13 overs.
U Rain then dismissed GJ Thakuria (2) for the 6th wicket to pile further pressure on Meghalaya before Rohit Sharma (4) and BJ Makdoh (0) got run out.
Zamir also joined the party trapping Angkit lbw on 3 for the 9th wicket before Tamarland bowled out M Kharpuri on 3 to complete the demolition job in the 3rd delivery of the 23rd over as the scoreboard read 64 .
Danish returned with the best bowling figures of 4/24 in 7 overs including a maiden over as Rain, Chingkheinganba, Zamir and Tamarland all registered a wicket apiece.
Manipur will play Mizoram in the next match on October 13 at the same venue.
