Inter District and State Open Badminton Championships 2026 : Imphal West sweep three team titles as Bishnupur claim men's team title

Imphal, August 11 2026: Bishnupur men's team emerged as the champions as Imphal West swept the team titles in the women, boys and girls' segment in the 43rd MSBA Inter District Badminton Championships 2026 organised by the Manipur State Badminton Association at its indoor stadium at DMU Campus.

Bishnupur men's team defeated Imphal West team by 3-2 margin to claim the top honour.

Imphal West, meanwhile, defeated Bishnupur 3-0 for the women's team title before the girls team beat Imphal East side 2-1 and the boys' team prevailed 2-1 over Bishnupur in their respective final clashes.

70th State Open Badminton Championships

The second day of the 70th State Open Badminton Championships saw Kamachun Kamei and five others advance to U16 girls' singles quarterfinals.

In the first Round of 16 clash, Kamachun Kamei Thokchom defeated Urbasri Devi 15-11 12-15 15-10 in a see-saw affair before Sarungbam Archana eased past Devi Khaidem Pakpi 15-4 15-7 .

Kshetrimayum Monalia also prevailed 15-10 15-9 over Nyssa Thiyam as Thingbaijam Bebina Devi secured an easy 15-4 15-3 win over Sanatombi Chanu Thounaojam.

Jia Sanabam meanwhile pulled off a 15-3 15-12 win over Kshetrimayum Tamphasana Devi before Moirangthem Jenelia edged out Devi Ashima 15-9 13-15 15-7 .

As many as 22 Round of 64 matches for U15 boys' singles competition were also completed today.

In the first Round of 64 clash, Joel Khangembam got the better of Bhaskar Khuraijam 15-11 15-11 as Rojesh Mayanglambam edged out Ronick Huyam 13-15 15-7 15-9 .

Meanwhile, Syed Washif outlasted Kenrick Nandeibam with a 14-16 15-12 15-10 comeback win before Irabanta Chungkham eased past Jenivash Asem 15-4 15-6 and Kshetrimayum Chingkheinganba Singh sealed an easy 15-7 15-3 win over Paveingao Perez.

Thounaojam Adhiraj Singh also eased to an easy 15-7 15-4 win over Oinam Kelvin Singh before Yumlembam Ronaldo Singh prevailed 15-5 15-7 over Ratsiikho Doumai Kakchingtabam Khenchandra Sharma overwhelmed Nicolas Sorokhaibam 15-6 15-1, Chirom Netcover eased past Khangembam Nitish Singh 15-4 15-8, Pukhrambam Jaychandra Singh outlasted Shelley Pouzhovei 15-5 15-7, Nameirakpam Devasis Singh outlasted Lourembam Yoihenba 15-3 15-4 .

Later, Tomthinnganba Sougrakpam outlasted Ningthoujam Aaron Singh with an easy 15-6 15-8 win as Khundrakpam Suraj Singh eased past Athokpam Tondonba Luwang 15-4 15-8, Yengkhom Chingkhei- nganba Singh edged out Chingangbam Dhiju Singh 14-16 15-13 15-9, Naorem Nelson Singh beat Salam Rajnath Singh 15-8 15-8, Rajkumar Rendish Singh notched up an easy 15-5 15-5 win over Kakchingtabam Shahil Sharma and L S Delou outlasted Leimapokpam Taruba Mangang 15-9 15-5 .

Yengkhom Gagarin Singh, meanwhile, edged out Yengkhom Nirmal Singh 10-15 15-10 15-13 as Thangjam Lucky Khuman made the easy work of Sharawan Gurung 15-5 15-2, Hidangmayum Bishal Sharma prevailed 15-13 15-5 over Ahenthoi Leitanthem, Shawn Sharma Bachaspatimayum eased past Moirangthem Bartish 15-5 15-8 and Lorence Naorem thumped Asengba Lairenlakpam 15-11 17-15 .

U11 Boys' singles

The day also witnessed Riyosnganba Soubam and Hercules Laishram advancing to the quarterfinals of the U11 boys singles competition.

Riyosnganba Soubam booked his quarterfinal ticket with an easy 15-6 15-2 win over Ringchithei Muinao in a Round of 16 clash before Hercules Laishram got the better of Khundrakpam Narjit Singh 15-9 15-12 .
