Imphal, October 09 2025: Manipur kickstarted their Vinoo Mankad Trophy Plate Group campaign with a 61-run win over Arunachal Pradesh at GMSSS Sec-26 Cricket Ground at Chandigarh today.

Put in to bat first, Manipur amassed 257 runs for 6 wickets in the allotted 43 overs courtesy of leading performances from Sougaijam Robinson, Warokpam Max and Zamir Khan and bowled out Arunachal Pradesh for 196 runs in 39.2 overs riding on Chingkheinganba, Swabhiman.

Manipur had a positive start but were reduced to 57/2 in 7.4 overs losing Thokchom Lucky (9 off 18 balls) and Thoiba (37 off 20 balls) to Ayush Singh.

Max and Robinson then forged a 105-run partnership off 138 balls with Robinson scoring a half century till Ayush had his treble by removing Max for 45 runs (off 76 balls, 6 fours).

Robinson held on until he was dismissed for the 5th wicket in the 35th over on 71 (off 82 balls.

4 fours and 3 sixes) as the scoreboard read 182.Rain (26 off 25 balls, 3 fours) and Zamir (39 off 26 balls, 3 fours and 1 six) then stitched together 70 off 46 balls to put Manipur in a comfortable position.

Arunachal Pradesh had a stuttering start losing 2 wickets within 6.3 overs to O Reolin as the scoreboard read 36 before Ayush Singh (38 off 57 balls) and Md Akib produced the best partnership of 112 runs off 123 balls for the third wicket.

Swabhiman then broke the partnership in the last delivery of the 27th over by trapping Ayush lbw out before Chingkheinganba removed Arunachal Pradesh skipper Gibbson on 10 for the fourth wicket.

Swabhiman bowled out Nabam Jinam on 4 to further reduce Arunachal Pradesh to 177/5 in the 35th over before Danish removed Md Akib on 105 to set up the gradual collapse of the Arunachal Pradesh batting line up.

Chingkheinganba went on to pick two more wickets to return with the best bowling figures of 3/25 in 9 overs after Swabhiman sealed his third wicket in the form of Techi Tuma for the 7th wicket and returned with the figures of 3/ 37 in 9 overs.
