ESU overwhelm LMYVA 25-6 to seal sub-junior girls' title, stage set for junior men's final
N Nancy and N Katherine fashioned ESU a commanding 25-6 win against LMYVA, Lalambung Makhong in the final league match of the 3-team State Sub-Junior Girls Basketball championship this evening at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court.
It was the second win for ESU and by virtue of the two of two wins in the league round, they were crowned champions.
N Nancy led the scoring for ESU in their decisive win today adding 10 points alone followed by N Katherine on 8 points.
Sh Odishika also scored a triple for the team on the way to her 5-point finish while H Justica picked 2 points off a field goal.
N Merinda, Pebam Shreeya and M Hoshika scored 2 points apiece to make up 6 points for the Lalambung side today.
Meanwhile, YOSC, who had beaten LMYVA 30-3 after going down 37-11 to ESU in the league opener, finished runners up.
Th Billgates powers Youth Club to 86-49 win in SubJunior Boys' Championship Youth Club, Uripok prevailed 86-49 over LMYVA, Lalambung in a league match of the State SubJunior Boys' Basketball Championship thanks to Th Billgates' 45 point finish including 3 triples and 28 points contributed by Shriyansh.
N Rathore (6 pts) and D Barun (3 pts) also found their names on the scoresheet for the Uripok side.
Meanwhile Anderson scored 34 points for LMYVA in a lost cause as Eddie (8 pts) and Nelson (6 pts) contributed 14 points after Tomthinnganba converted a freethrow to open the team's scoring in the first period.
Stage set for junior men's final
The final line up for the junior men's championship was completed today with Model Club, Chingamakha and CYLC, Chingamathak securing semi-final victories.
In the first semi-final match staged in the evening, CYLC pulled off a massive 85-56 win over YOSC, Khurai.
Leishemba starred with a match high 34 points as he scored two three pointers while Prince added 25 points to seal the massive win for CYLC.
L Leishemba (9 pts), Athouba (8 pts), A Chetan (4 pts), Pritam (3 pts) and P Vega (2 pts) also contributed 26 points for the team.
Samson (16 pts) and Ronald (15 pts) on the other hand scored a bulk of 31 points for the Khurai side as W Lanchenba (6 pts), Ng Lanchenba (5 pts), Vidyaraj (3 pts), Grosun (3 pts), L Lanchenba (2 pts), Alex (2 pts), Laba (2 pts) and Biranjan (2 pts) made up the remaining margin.
Meanwhile Model Club sealed a 53-47 win over BDBA, Bishnupur in a keenly contested semi-final encounter.
M Suryajeet topscored for BDBA with a 23-point finish but his effort went in vain as Th Sotindrachand (20 pts), L Telheiba (11 pts) and N Jackim (10 pts) led file scoring for the Chingamathak team.
H Lanchenba also added 6 points for the winners as A Shatish and A Thomba contributed 2 points apiece.
L Sangkerson (8 pts), Kh Malemnganba (8 pts), M Sendick (4 pts) and Ph Inunganba (4 pts) were also on target for the Bishnupur team.
The final match begins at 4.15 pm at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court.
