1st Bishnupur District Olympic Games : NYVA, SEWA, SUWC confirm men's volleyball semi-final berths

Imphal/Bishnupur, July 09 2026: NYVA, Naorem; SEWA, Nachou and SUWC, Irengbam are assured of semi-final berths in the 1st Bishnupur District Olympic Games Volleyball following their first day performances at Nachou Volleyball ground today.

In the 6-team tournament, NYVA and SEWA posted first game wins in the Group A league competition to confirm their places in the semi-finals as SUWC posted two of two wins to top Group B .

In the opening match, NYVA beat KSA, Irengbam in straight sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-22) before SUWC opened their winning account by edging past YPC, Ishok 25-21, 19025, 26-24, 17-25, 15-11 in a see-saw affair.

SEWA then shut the door for KSA completely by handing a 3-1 sets defeat (25-18, 13-25, 25-15, 25-21) in the second Group A match.

Later in the fourth match, SUWC beat BYCL 25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-20 to complete the league stage sweep and topped the group.

SEWA and NYVA will fight it out for the pole position in the last Group A match tomorrow while YPC and BYCL will square off against one another for the remaining semi-final berth for Group B. Sepaktakraw competition commences

The second day of the games also saw commencement of the Sepaktakraw competition at Kumbi Kangjeibung.

As many as 8 teams are competing in the event.

The opening day of the event that will run till July 11 witnessed KIYDO register three successive victories.

KIYDO opened the winning account by defeating SKC 15-5, 15-9 before beating AKSTA 15-11, 10-15, 15-10 for the second win and NEYA 15-9, 15-8 for the third win.

AKSTA meanwhile earned two victories in three matches.

They sealed their first win by handing TYC a 15-4, 15-5 defeat before easing past SKC 15-2, 15-2.They however suffered a 1-2 loss to KIYDO in their third encounter.

In the other actions of the day, NEYA beat SYC 15-9, 15-10; SKC beat SAM 15-8, 8-15, 15-13, and KLADO beat TYC 15-3, 14-17, 15-11 .

Football : Bishnupur AC crush Nambol AC 4-0

In the men's football competition, Bishnupur AC opened their Group A league campaign with a dominating 4-0 win over Nambol AC .

S Johnson Singh netted a treble (1', 25', 87') to guide Bishnupur AC to a 4-0 win over Nambol AC.

Borish Singh scored the other goal for the team in the 50th minute.

Later in the second Group B match, Moirang AC played out a 1-1 draw with Kumbi AC .

Kumbi AC, who played out a 3-3 draw with Oinam AC yesterday in the opening game, were first to strike in the 8th minute courtesy of Haorongbam Kumarjit.

K Udanta Singh however put Moirang AC on level terms with a fine finish in the 30th minute.

The two sides remained unseparated till the final whistle despite chances on both the ends in the remainder of the game. Other events

Other events of the district games also began today at different venues.

The Table Tennis competition of the games was kicked off at M Manindra Indoor Stadium, Moirang Kokilbon; Badminton at Ningthoukhong Indoor Stadium; Boxing at SAI Complex Utlou; Wushu at Thanga, Chingningthou Community Hall; Wrestling at SAI Complex, Utlou; Kabaddi at Moirang Khunou Kabaddi Ground; Jeet Kune-Do at Khoiriphaba Indoor Stadium, Nambol; Kho-Kho at Kumbi Kangjeibung; Weightlifting at SAI, Complex, Utlou; Rowing, Canoeing and Kayaking at Takmu Water Sports Complex; Gymnastics at Ngaikhong Khullen Community Hall.
