Holders THAU outlast AKSDO by 118 runs to enter final for record extending five times

Defendings THAU, Thangmeiband are into the final for the recording extending five times as they overcame AKSDO, Khangabok by 118 runs in the first semi-final match of the 5th MNCA Senior Women's One Day Trophy 2025-26 at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium today.
The three time champions in the last four editions were asked to bat first by the Khangabok team and they amassed 228 runs for 2 wickets in 35 overs riding on an unbeaten ton from Keisham Kalpana.
Chasing the daunting total, AKSDO were 78/8 in 28 overs when rain interrupted the match and the target was revised to 197 in 28 overs.
Eventually, THAU emerged victorious by 118 runs.
THAU lost Ch Leithoi early on duck in the 4th delivery to Khundrakpam Rabina but Kalpana anchored with an unbeaten 111 off 105 balls laden with 14 fours to take THAU to the huge total of 118 runs for 2 wickets.
Kalpana raised 161 runs for the second wicket with Brahmacharimayum Seterny, who was two runs away from making her half century off 82 balls (2 fours) but was stumped by AKSDO wicketkeeper Taniya off the bowling of Bijiya Khundrakpam.
Kalpana then found another partner in Ronibala (33 not out off 24 balls; 3 fours) and remained unbeaten with the 62-run partnership for the third wicket.
In reply, Ninthoujam Taniya (27 off 40 balls; 4 fours) and Thokchom Alish (10 off 24 balls) added highest 32 run partnership for the first wicket but Ahongsangbam Thoithoibi broke their partnership in time by dismissing Alish for the first wicket in the 9th over that also saw incoming Kh Bijiya being bowled on a 2-ball duck.
Thoithoibi went on to dismiss incoming Langlen on 1 for the third wicket before getting rid of Taniya for her fourth wicket (4/20) and left AKSDO struggling at 44/4 in 12.2 overs.
Kongjengbam Nonibala (1/12), Naorem Sophiya (1/12) and Thoudam Niruta (1/7) then took their turns to claim a wicket apiece to further reduce AKSDO to 75/8 in 27 overs.
Lucyrani 2 and Laishram Kalpana 0 were unbeaten as AKSDO had to cut short their innings at 78/8 in 28 overs.
Keisham Kalpana, who produced a masterful knock of 111 runs and earned the huge win, was adjudged player of the match.
Group B winners SHADOW, Thangmeiband will play Group A runners up PTCC, Patsoi tomorrow in the second semi-final match at the same venue.
