Imphal, April 09 2023: TCMDC-Thongju Part II Pechu Lampak overcame late pressure to seal a wicket win over CDCC-Sagolband in a Group A match of the ongoing 2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament 2023 at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak.

CDCC won the toss and opted to bat first.

But they were bundled out for a paltry total of 163 runs for 10 wickets in 38.5 overs as Rain Urikhinbam led the TCMDC bowling attack.

TCMDC too had a sluggish chase and were reduced to 162 for 9 in 36 overs as Mutum Judiba (3/26) of CDCC wreaked havoc but N Arbin hit Asif for a four in the 1st delivery of the 38th over to make sure TCMDC sealed the victory with Thongjam Tulajit (0) .

For CDCC, it was Thounaojam Rakesh (34) and Priyojit Narengbam (32) who gave a steady start but Kalayan Sharma (2/27 in 8 overs) broke the partnership at 67 runs in 12.3 overs to stem the collapse.

Ksh Robert (18) and Viking Salam (18) also added managed double digit scores for the team before Khursid Alam was trapped lbw by Vivekananda for 24 runs to end the innings.

Rain Urikhinbam returned with the best figures of 3/20 in 8 overs as Kongbrailatpam Kalyan and Huirongbam Babulu Singh (2/26) picked up two wickets each.

In reply, TCMDC had a fighting start but kept losing wickets in regular intervals including twice in the 13th over with Mutum Jodiba removing Ashokumar Maibam for 19 and Laishram Vivekananda for 4-ball duck.

Leihaothabam Tondon (24) however played anchor to keep the scoreboard ticking even as he lost his key partners Huirongbam Babulu (26), Suraj Kharibam (11) and Kirankumar Saikia (16) in regular intervals before he got run out for the 9th wicket in 36th over when they were just two runs away from the victory.

N Arbin and Thongam Tuljit added just a run in the next over to draw level before N Arbin hit a four in the first delivery of the 38th over to take TCMDC to a winning 167 .

Asif of TCMDC also finished with bowling figures of 2/40 in this innings as RK Robindro and Ngangom Rajesh chipped in with a wicket apiece.

Huirongbam Babulu who picked two wickets and added 26 runs was adjudged man of the match.

In a Group B match at Khangabok Part III Cherapur Public Ground, YUCC-Kwakeithel Moirangpurel were bundled out for 157 runs in 34 overs but defended their total against UCC-Uripok Khaidem Leikai courtesy Khundrakpam Punshiba's four wicket haul.

Ningthoujam Thoiba (27), Laishram Bidyashwor (38), Ningthoujam Rohit (16) and Ningthoujam Sanjit (15) were main run getters for YUCC as bowling trio of UCC- Leishangthem Bishorjit (3/33), Bicky Kumar Das (3/36) and Konsam Gulson (3/22) enjoyed three wicket hauls.

UCC's batting department however faltered badly and they muster only 64 runs in 19 overs in the chase with Khundrakpam Punshiba collecting four wickets (4/12) including the highest run getter Moirangthem Satish Kumar (13) and Ningthoujam Sanjit (2/11) and Kadamjit Moirangthem (2/9) picking up two wickets each.

Rahulkumar Ningthoujam also picked a wicket to set up the huge win.

Khundrakpam Punshiba was adjudged man of the match.
