Imphal, November 08, 2008: MIKHYA, Imphal West and Senapati district respectively wrested the men's and women's titles of the first Inter District Open Volleyball Tournament which concluded at Senapati district headquarters ground today.

The men's final saw MIKHYA of Mayang Imphal spikers crush KYSU, Kairembikhok (Thoubal) 25-20, 25-19, 25-22 to bag the title and pocket top prize of Rs 25,000 .

The runners-up had to content with Rs 15,000 while the Rs 8000 booty for third position went to SLC, Bishnupur who defeated NYC, Ukhrul 25-11, 25-18, 25-19 .

The eventual women's champion Senapati district were awarded Rs 15,000 with runners-up LSU, Chandel walking home richer by Rs 10,000 .

The senapati eves won the final 25-19, 26-24, 25-20 .

NYC, Ukhrul defeated NVYC, Bishnupur 25-23, 25-21, 25-18 to secure third position which carried cash award of Rs 5000 .

The concluding day's matches and prize distribution ceremony of the tournament jointly organised by Senapati District Volleyball Association and Poumai Students' union under the aegis of All manipur Volleyball Association were held with president of Senapati district Congress Committee PT Ahrai as the chief guest.

The best player award in men's section went to Y Jotinkumar of MIKHYA with Senapati district's Hriiniirou bagging the honour among the women spikers.
