39th State Sub-Junior Basketball Championships : Youth Club vs YOSC in boys' final, YOSC vs CYLC in girls' final

The final line up of the 39th State Sub-Junior Basketball Championships have been completed today with the end of the league round.
The final day of the league round saw Youth Club, Uripok beat YOSC, Khurai 63-45 and YOSC beat CYLC, Chingamathak 32-28 in the top of the table contests for boys and girls and eventually the four teams made it to the final by virtue of their league round finishes.
The final matches are slated for August 9 evening at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court.
Youth Club reign supreme
In the boys' ultimate league round match, Youth Club prevailed 63-45 over YOSC as Shriyans produced a top notch performance and scored 23 points alone to set up the convincing win.
Youth Club enjoyed upperhand right from the beginning and enjoyed a 23-16 lead in the first quarter before taking a 37-24 lead at halfway mark.
YOSC scored 12 points against Youth Club's 8 in the third period to trail by 36-45 points before going down by 45-63 points with Youth Club.
Billgates and Phoenix also found a trey apiece on their way to 17-point and 15-point finishes for the winners as Dhanaraj scored 8 points.
For YOSC, Chitan scored 18 points followed by Chitravash (13 pts), Hitler (8 pts), Phirepa (2 pts) and Oylan (2 pts) .
In the dead rubber matches staged earlier in the day, LMYVA, Lalambung ended their 4-game losing streak by beating CYLC, Chingamathak 22-21 and ESU, Wangkhei posted their third win in five matches by beating Model Club, Chingamakha 43-36 .
Malem (10 pts), Ira (4 pts), Yohenba (4 pts), Telheiba (2 pts) and Nelson (2 pts) scored to seal LMYVA a narrow 22-21 win over CYLC.
For CYLC, Bhagivat scored match-high 15 points including a treble as Suzenain, Thoungamba and Yaiphaba scored 2 points apiece.
Pangakpa meanwhile scored 2 triples on the way to his 15-point finish to help ESU register a 43-36 win today despite Keilung scoring 4 triples to make a 19-point finish for Model Club.
Brownson (11 pts), Jivit (9 pts) and Mangalsana (8 pts) also found their names on the scoresheet for ESU .
For Model Club, Tomthin scored second highest 9 points as Hemson, S Arbin, Delbert and Vimesh scored 2 points apiece.
YOSC vs CYLC in girls' final
YOSC rode on Chim Chim's leading 16-point finish to secure a 32-28 win over CYLC in the girls' top of the table contest today.
By virtue of their 1-2 finishes at the end of the league round, the two sides will fight it out for the top honour.
The two sides were locked at 4-4 till the end of the first period before heading into the third period with the score locked at 10-10 .
YOSC however went ahead with a 19-14 lead in the third period before securing the 32-28 victory with Th Thasana, who opened the scoring for the team with a brilliant trey, adding her remaining 5 points in the final period.
M Percy (4 pts), Th Chaoba (2 pts) and T Lanchenbi (2 pts) were also on target for YOSC today as Monali and Henthoi scored 10 points apiece in a lost cause for CYLC .
Lamjingbi (7 pts) and Lousingthoi (1 pt) also scored for the Chingamathak side today.
