IE Dist Polo Tournament : Paradise Polo Club, Chingkheihunba PC-A win to complete last four line up

Imphal, April 07 2021: Paradise Polo Club, Wangkhei edged out Eastern Students' Club (ESC)-B, Nongmeibung and Chingkheihunba Polo Club (CHPC)-A hammered 12-1 past Ibudhou Marjing Kh KL, Heingang to complete the semi-final line up of the ongoing 1st Imphal East District Polo Tournament.

In the third quarter final match of the tournament staged today, Paradise relied on a late additional chukker goal to pull off a close 4-3 win over ESC-B .

Four chukkers were enough for the two sides to settle the game as the scoreline remained locked at 3-3 and thus the fifth chukker was added on to find the winner.

ESC-B were 1-0 ahead till halfway with Y Suraj scoring in the second chukker after the two sides drew blank in the opening chukker.

Paradise PC however pulled level in the third chukker with K Samananda finding the target.

N Philip and K Nelson scored a goal each for Paradise PC in the fourth chukker which also saw A Tomba and Y Suraj scoring a goal apiece for the losing team to make it 3-3 till the end of fourth chukker.

The fifth chukker witnessed both teams' struggle to find the winner and it was 6.01 minutes into the chukker that N Philip found the breakthrough and helped Paradise PC earn a place in the semis.

The fourth quarter final match however proved to be a lopsided affair as CHPC-A, Kongpal wreaked havoc to outlast IMKHKL by 12-1 goals.

IMKHKL had a slender 1-0 first chukker lead through a goal scored by Maichel but Jogendra Kangujam (1), Thangjam Basanta (2), Leishemba Takhelambam (1) and A Basanta (3) ran riot to give CHPC-A a 7-1 lead at the end of the second chukker.

Both teams were unable to find the target in the third chukker but Th Kaoba scored thrice and Leishemba added two in the final chukker to complete the 12-1 demolition of the Heingang team.

X-Fitness Polo Club will play CHPC-B in the first semi-final match tomorrow before CHPC-A face off Paradise PC for the remaining final slot.
