Running for Harmony: CRPF Battalions mobilize massive 10 km mini marathons across Manipur

In a sweeping bid to build community bridges and foster regional harmony and promote healthy activities, various battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have hit the pavement across Manipur to host a synchronized series of 10-kilometer peace marathons today.
Organized under the theme "Run for Fitness, Run for Peace, Run for a Better Society," the major athletic drive is held under Khelo India's 'Sports for Peace and Development Across the Nation (SPANDAN)' initiative.

The run from 69 Bn CRPF Headquarters in Mantripukhri was flagged off by Gautam, DIG Manipur Police.
Tracing a course to the BSF Sector Headquarters in Koirengei and back, the participants displayed remarkable endurance and high morale throughout the 10 km route.
The runs organised by 109 Bn CRPF in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India at Maram and Tadubi in Senapati drew participation of 290 runners.
In the Maram run participated by 185 runners, Maheingangam, Pangaolu and P Rang Sebastian made the podium finishes as Kholi Sani (36: 26), Daikho (38:15) and Neikhini Ebvii (38:38) were top three runners in the Tadubi Run.
152 Bn CRPF also conducted 10-km mini marathons at three locations- Awang Sekmai, Tiddim Ground, and Kanto Sabal.
In the run conducted by D Company of 152 Bn from Tiddim Ground, Waikhom Genius (33:20), Md Rahish Khan (34:17) and Angom Anganba (34: 49) made top three finishes as 10 others received consolation prizes.
The run organised by 66 Bn CRPF from 2nd MR Ground, was meanwhile flagged off by N Kunjarani, a former CRPF Commandant and recipient of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Arjuna Awards.
Md Rahish, Sandham Punshiba and Rexim Moirangthem made the top podium finishes in this run.
The 120 Bn CRPF also organised a 10 km run at Phayeng (Phayeng Don Bosco to Lairenkabi to Phayeng Don Bosco), Yumnam Barlin, Phamdonbam Lamnganba and Digoijou Salam made top three finishes.
Laishram Pari (33: 25), Shougrakpam Yaiphaba (34:38) and Nongmaithem Thoithoiba (35:06) meanwhile bag top three podium finishes in the 10 km run organised by B/32 Bn CRPF at Kumbi.
In the run that started from Kumbi Bazar, the athletes traversed Electric Sub-Station, Power House Moirang Khunou before returning back at the starting point.
In the G/157 Bn CRPF organised run that started from Thamnapokpi, the athletes ran through Phubala and parts of Thinungei before returning to the starting point.
E/157 Bn CRPF also organised a similar run that started from Keibul playground and covered Moirang Khunou before concluding at the starting point.
N Loyanganba, Laishram Bikashnanda and Oinam Rohit secured top three positions in the run.
The run organised by 86 Bn CRPF in Noney meanwhile saw 147 youth comprising both male and female runners head to Noney Bazar from Noney Common ground before covering Khumji-I, Khumji-II, Rangkhong and returning to the starting point.
In the male segment, Gainithui Malangmei, Mathiuchun Rongmei and Gailarei Gonmei secured the top three positions as Alice Barian, Peiningliu T Panmei and Thanchuipuilu Rongmei made the podium finishes in the female's segment.
The run organised by 133 Bn CRPF at Dolaithabi saw Sh Naorem Thoi (40:10), Ningomba Naoba (40:50) and Pukhrambam Dollar (41:24) seal top three positions.
The event was participated by 53 runners including a 77- year old veteran Salam Babuyaima who completed the course in 56 minutes and 42 seconds.
At Jiribam, 156 Bn conducted a similar run that started from Babupara Irabot Complex and covered Jiribam DC Office before culminating at the starting point.
Samim Ahmed, Akthar Hussain Laskar and Shahrul Ahmed bagged top three prizes in this run.
In the all women run organised by 10 km marathon organised by 232 (M) Bn CRPF, 123 runners ran for top honours.
Lamchunngai Kipgen, Phalhoineng Kipgen, and Simran Basnet stood out as the top three podium finishers in this run that began from Football Ground, Motbung and covered parts of the district.
143 Bn CRPF, Lamphelpat also organised 5 runs in Noney - Awangkhul, Nungba, Khongsang and Irang, and in Tamenglong.
In the run that was organised at Awangkhul, Lungtiplung Phaomei, Gangdimrei Kamsuan and Ambrose Gonmeih made podium finishes as Gaineilung Kamei, Thiamthailung and Ashok Kamei made top three finishes at Nungba event.
At Khongsang run, Oneses Phaomei, William Phaomei and Zianingam Phaomei were the top three finishers as Danthaolung Kamei, K Kindangampou and K Chingkhi Ujinpao secured the podium finishes at Irang event.
In the run held at Tamenglong, Kachanlung Pamei, Poupangai Panmei and Zerah Gonmei were the podium finishers.
Similar runs were organised at various locations by 34 Bn CRPF, 189 Bn CRPF, 71 Bn CRPF and others.
Top three podium finishers in all the runs were encouraged with a cash prize for Rs 10,000; Rs 6,000 and Rs 4,000 respectively.
100 first registered participants were also handed out event T-Shirts.
