17th Manipur State League : Samir nets twice as FC Lamjao rout SAI-RC 3-0 for fourth win on trot

Imphal, March 05 2025: FC Lamjao thrashed SAI-RC, Takyel by 3-0 goals for the fourth Group B win on the trot in the ongoing 17th Manipur State League at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong this afternoon.

The two sides were evenly poised in the second half and were unable to find the breakthrough despite chances.

FC Lamjao however entered the field with more purpose after the break and went ahead after 54 minutes thanks to Md Samir who completed his brace 6 minutes later to hand FC Lamjao a 2-0 advantage.

SAI-RC tried hard to reduce the deficit but things did not work well and to their disappointment, Elangbam Joykison scored three minutes away from time to complete the 3-0 rout.

The win lifted FC Lamjao on top of the Group B table on 12 points.

In another Group B match staged later in the day, NACO, Nambul Mapal rallied back to hold AFC, Thoubal to a 2-2 draw.

NACO entered the break with a slender 1-0 lead thanks to Takhenchangbam Krishna-nanda's 30th minute strike before AFC fought back to overturn the lead riding on the goals from Sahidur Rahaman (50') and Wahengbam Tejkumar (65') .

AFC almost sealed all three points as NACO were struggling to make their way back into the game for a better portion of the match but Nongmaithem Ashokumar scored one minute into the stoppage time to change the complexion of the game and put NACO back into competition.

The last few minutes saw intense exchange of runs between the teams but their efforts did not yield any result forcing both the teams to share a point apiece.

The tournament has been deferred until a new schedule is released.
