YWC-P, KIYC victorious in 9th MNCA Plate Tournament

Imphal, December 04 2024: YWC, Patsoi (YWC-P) and KIYC, Kshetrigao opened their group campaign in the 9th MNCA Plate Tournament on winning notes today.

At Lairenjam Public Ground, YWC-P opened their Group A campaign with a 36 run victory against SHADOW, Thangmeiband.

Put in to bat first, YWC-P racked up 201 before being bowled out in 32.4 overs and dismissed SHADOW for 165 runs in 33.5 overs to seal the comfortable win.

Shitaljit Wangkhem hit a half century off 29 balls on the back of 5 fours and 3 sixes while Ashiskumar Wakongthem and Johnson Lai scored 44 and 39 runs respectively to help YWC-P post 201 runs.

The innings saw Sagatpam Telheibi pick four wickets (4/ 34 in 7 overs) for SHADOW as Nurul (2/30) and Naocha (2/37) shared four wickets.

Kh Devis and Yendrembam Bharatngamba also chipped in with a wicket apiece.

In the chase, Kh Devish scored a fighting 50 off 67 balls and Naocha scored 32 runs but their efforts went in vain as they slumped to 165 all out.

Md Aslam also added 21 runs for SHADOW in the innings that witnessed Tongbram Donadoni of YWC-P return with the best figures of 3/30 in 7 overs and Laikhuram Jagat finish with 2/35.Johnson Lai and Laishram Yaiphaba also claimed a wicket apiece to set up the YWC-P victory.

Tongbram Donadoni of YWC-P, who was instrumental in devastating SHADOW line up, was adjudged player of the match.

N Rajiv's five-for in vain as KIYC beat SDC by 4 runs.

Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, KIYC kicked off their Group B campaign with a 4-run victory against SDC, Laipham Khunou.

The win came despite N Rajiv's five-wicket haul for the Laipham Khunou team.

SDC won the toss and opted to field first.

Riding on N Rajiv (5/24 in 6 overs) and Donny (3/13 in 3.4 overs), SDC managed to bowl out KIYC for 105 runs in 21.4 overs.

However they faltered in the chase and ended up collecting 101 runs in 25.2 overs as KIYC bowlers put in a concerted effort to change the complexion of the game.

For the Kshetrigao side, only Ahanthem Mangesh 40 was the double digit scorer before Saddam (3/18), Md Aman (2/19) and Md Abdulla Khan (2/19) devastated SDC line up.

Akip Zensi and Ahanthem Mangesh also claimed a wicket apiece for KIYC.

Saddam who led the KIYC bowling attack and finished with a three wicket haul was adjudged player of the match.
