L Lanchenba secures third gold at Junior Swimming Nationals, sub-junior swimmers amass 7 medals

Laitonjam Lanchenba clinched his third gold medal as the 51st Junior National Swimming Championships underway in Ahmedabad entered the second day.
Laitonjam Lanchenba who clinched two gold medals, one apiece in the 200 m junior boys individual medley and 50 m breaststroke competitions, carried forward his prolific form and cruised to his third gold medal by securing top position in the 100 m butterfly stroke event taking 57.06 seconds.
With Leishangthem Bishorjit winning a bronze medal yesterday in the 50 m breaststroke event taking 30.74 seconds, Manipur's tally swells to 4 medals at the Junior Nationals.
Manipur amass 7 medals at 41st Sub-Junior National Swimming Championship
Meanwhile, Manipur bagged as many as 11 medals including 3 gold at the 41st Sub-Junior National Swimming Championship underway in Bangalore.
The day saw Koijam Athouba, Meisnam Arindam and Koijam Athouba securing a gold medal apiece to swell State's medal tally.
Koijam Athouba clinched the gold medal in the subjunior boys' 200 m freestyle competition, recording the best time of 2 minutes 9.63 seconds.
Athouba also sealed a silver medal in the 200 m individual medley with a time of 2:28.74 (two minutes and 28.74 seconds) .
Meisnam Arindam in the meantime clocked 1:15.08 to seal the sub-junior boys' 100 m breaststroke gold as compatriot Soram Pieterson settled for the silver medal with a time of 1:18.47.The third gold medal of the day meanwhile came up in the sub-junior boys's 100 m butterfly stroke event as Koijam Athouba swam 1:01.85 to finish atop while compatriot Laitonjam Pumhen bagged a silver taking 1:05.06 .
K Athouba, Mangalsana, Pieterson and Pumhen also combined well to win a silver medal in the 4x50 m medley relay competition.
Angom Superman is the coach cum manager for the junior squad and Kh Jackal is the coach cum manager for the sub-junior squad.
