Imphal West crowned overall team champions of State Level Boxing Championships

Imphal, August 02 2026:
Imphal West were crowned as the overall team champions of the State Level Boxing Championships organised by the Manipur Amateur Boxing Association at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
Imphal West boxers racked up 17 gold, 15 silver and 8 bronze medals to accumulate 86 points on the way to their overall team champions title as Imphal East registered 16 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze medals and Thoubal gathered 7 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze medals to seal the first runners up and second runners up titles.
The final day saw Imphal West boxers collect a staggering 7 gold medals in 10 final bouts across Elite Women and U15 Boys' category competitions.

Thoubal's Huidrom Karuna grabbed the Elite Women's -48 kg category gold today by beating Wangjam Ethoibi 5-0 via unanimous decision before Imphal West's Luwangleima Soram pulled off a similar win over Imphal East's Toijam Bhumabati for the -51 kg category title.
Phuritshabam Renuka further extended Imphal West's gold medal rush by beating N Luxmi of Bishnupur 3-2 via split decision in the -54 kg final.
Meanwhile, the U15 Boys' -33 kg category title went to Bishnupur's Laishram Rainbow, who crushed Ukhrul's Themjui Sharon 5-0 via unanimous decision in the final before Imphal West's Thoudam Santosh sealed an RSC win over Bishnupur's Irungbam Wanganba for the -35 kg category title.
Athokpam Inunganba of Imphal West sealed the -37 kg category with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Hangoibam Srinivash Sharma of Imphal East as compatriot Laishram Alex beat Tarun Soibam of Thoubal 4-1 via split decision to claim the -40 kg category title.
Nganthoi Yengkhom of Imphal West in the meantime claimed the -43 kg category title beating Kakching's Th Bulhan in the final as compatriot Malem Mangang beat Soibam Tarun in the same fashion for the -46 kg category title and Chandel's Serto Neikhupreng Kom beat Kakching's Soibam Tarunjit 5-0 via unanimous decision for the -49 kg category title.
Nganthoi Yengkhom of Imphal West (U15 Boys : -43 kg) and Chithung Jessica of Senapati (U15 Girls : -40 kg) were named most promising boxers of the championship as Gershom Awungshi of Ukhrul (U17 Boys : -57 kg) and Gunshalu Khumba of Noney (U19 Women: -48 kg) were declared best boxers.
Nelson Khwairakpam of Imphal West (U17 Boys : -57 kg) and Ningthoujam Anjali of Kakching (U19 : - 48 kg) were also adjudged best challengers and feted during the valedictory function.
