Mega State Level Boxing Championship : Rohit Ningthoujam takes elite men's 63.5 kg title, Laishram Jamson claims youth men's 67 kg title

Imphal, March 31 2022: Rohit Ningthoujam of MKBA sealed the elite men's (1982-2003) 63.5 kg title beating Lalmuan of IND on the fourth day of the ongoing Mega State Level Boxing Championship at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.

In the elite men's 60 kg final, UBA's Rahul Kumar earned the top honour beating Pumsonthang Singson of IND as Jackson Pukhrambam of MKBA took the 54 kg title by beating IND's Yuhlung Eraingam Chothe earlier.

Meanwhile in the youth men's (2004-05) 67 kg title clash, Laishram Jamson of US thumped Athokpam Tony Meitei of STC for the top honour.

The day also saw completion of final bouts of four weight categories of the SubJunior Boys (2008-09) group.

In the 49 kg title clash, STC's Thoumujam Paikhomba Meitei beat Maibam Jet Singh of NBA before NBA's Ankit Koirala beat Chirom Manithoiba of STC for the 43 kg crown, Ningthoujam Naocha of NBA beat Ningthoujam Chingkheinganba of KB A for the 40 kg crown and Yengkhom Loveson of NBA beat PBA's Gurumayum Maiken for the 37 kg title.

In the final bouts of the sub-junior boys (2010) group, Khaidem Lamnganba of STC beat NBA's Ningthoujam Sanahenba for the 46 kg title; Thangjam Jerison of NBA beat Pheiroijam Bigson of KBA for the 43 kg title; Kharibam Leishemba of UBA beat Louriyam Jimkely of KBA for the 37 kg title; Yengkhom Giveson of NBA beat BBA's Naorem Lanchen Meitei for the 35 kg title; Ningthoukhongjam Dhanaraj of PBA beat Irungbam Amanraj of NBA for the 33 kg title and Athokpam Inunganba of UBA beat Yumnam Ningthou of BBA for the 31 kg title.

The junior girls (2006-07) 54 kg title, in the meantime, went to Alina Khaidem of PBA as she beat Phuritsabam Renuka Devi of NBA in the final today.

In the final bouts for other weight categories of the same age group, Khumanthem Sinthoi of NBA beat Esther Neipineng of MKBA for the 52 kg title after Sneha Thangjam of MKBA won 48 kg title beating KBA's Thounaojam Anjalina and Ningombam Ripa Devi of UBA won 50 kg title beating Kimhoinei Telen Kom of MKBA.

Final bouts of four junior boys (2006-07) categories were also decided today and Kongjengbam Rodick of PBA won the 60 kg title as he overcame Punshiba Moirangthem of MKBA in the final.

Earlier in the 46 kg final, Mutum Nikison of NBA beat Thaimei Jackson of STC before Phurailatpam Henson of PBA won the 50 kg title by beating Angom Ronaldo Meitei of STC and Amatjit Takhellambam of MKBA clinched 52 kg title beating NBA's Moirangthem Yaikhomba.

In the meantime, Venika Yumnam of MKBA won the youth women's (2004-05) 48 kg title beating UBA's Hamom Silvia in the final 'before Huidrom Griviya clinched the 57 kg title beating Nengboihling Lhouvam of IND in the final.

Final bouts of two subjunior girls (2010) categories were also completed with Bhumika Laishram of PBA beating Ningthoukhongjam Pinky of IND for the 43 kg title and Thoudam Merina of UBA beating NBA's Khangembam Soniya Devi for the 32 kg title.
