Guwahati, January 31: Judokas and weightlifters continue to provide maximum number of gold medals to Manipur's kitty as the 22nd North East Games completed the second day today.

As per official report Manipur is leading the medals' race on 24 gold, 15 silver and 17 bronze medals with Assam level on the silver and bronze medal count but five less in terms of gold medal.

Tripura is in third place with a total of 10 gold, 15 silver and 16 bronze medals.

The State judo team wrested seven gold and one silver medal today taking the total to nine gold, and two silver and bronze each.

L Sushila (44 kg/W), L Sandhyarani (48/W), N Santimala (52/W), H Ichal (56/W), T Rajesh (56/M), Nk Romen (60/M) and T Paksana (75/M) won their respective final bouts as Ajit secured the men's 66 kg silver medal.

While the weightlifters began their campaign with three gold and two silver medals yesterday, eight more of the yellow metals were added to the tally with the triumph of T Ronibala (63 kg/W), Kh Dhiren (77 kg/M), Th Somen (69 kg/M), Kh Joshila (69 kg/W), A Budhachandra (94 kg/M), Th Premila (75 kg/W), Th Thoiba (105 kg/M) and Y Leirentombi (75+ kg/W).

N Nike Meitei (69 kg/M) and Th Arunjeet (85 kg/M) fetched two silver medals in the weightlifting competition.

Manipur's Kh Khogen was adjudged the best lifter among the males with the women's honour bagged by M Rita.

In athletics, Manipur had to be satisfied with the overall third position on five gold, eight silver and 15 bronze medals as host Assam collected 17 gold, 12 silver and seven bronze medals to occupy the top spot followed by Tripura (10-G, 10-S, 6-B) in the runners-up position.

While M Priya struck her second gold medal with a leap of 5.72 metres in the long adding to the 100 metre triumph yesterday, Ph Sandhyarani won the women's 800 metre race gold in 2:23.37 seconds with the State's third gold medal today fetched by Ksh Ronika in the 10,000 metre race.

Silver medallists in different athletic disciplines are Sh Lokeshore Sharma (10,000 mtr/M), Kh Rasheswori (10,000 mtr/W), Ph Sandhyarani (800 mtr/W) and the women's 4x100 mtr relay team.

The bronze medal winners include N Raju (10,000 mtr/M), K Aruna (discus/W), A Surbala (200 mtr/W), Asma Bhanu (high jump/W), N Rajiv (800 mtr/M), K Aruna (shotput/W), men's 4x400 mtr relay, women's 4x400 mtr relay, and men's 4x100 mtr relay team.

In team events, the Manipur men's team entered into the last four stage as Group-B runners up behind Assam while the State eves stormed into the semis with convincing victories against Nagaland and Assam today.

The men's team defeated Arunachal Pradesh 3-0 before going down to the hosts 1-3.With comprehensive wins, both the men and women's team advanced to the semi finals of the kho-kho competition.
