Imphal, May 25:
Reiterating its appeal to the State Government, particularly to Minister of Health, Director of Health and Family Welfare for upgradation of the Motbung PHC to a Community Health Centre, the Thadou Students' Association, Sadar Hills asserted that the existing PHC is serving 139 villages which is beyond its capacity.
A press release issued by TSA also noted that Motbung and surrounding areas are prone to seasonal epidemics like malaria, diarrhoea etc which take heavy toll on human lives every year.
Asserting that its demand for a CHC at Motbung is based on the urgent need of the people, the student body appealed to the Minister concerned to make a spot enquiry so as to verify the authenticity of the demand.
It also decried the erratic power supply in Sadar Hills area as well as unavailability of kerosene oil meant for poor people of the area.
Urging upon the State Government to ensure regular supply of electricity, TSA cautioned that failure to fulfil its demands will compel it to impose indefinite highway bandh.
