17 arrested for power theft

Imphal, October 24 2024:
Manipur State Power Distribution .Company Limited (MSPDCL) has informed that 17 people were arrested on the charge of power theft from different areas on Wednesday.
According to a press release issued by MSPDCL executive director (commercial) Kamei Gaikulung, MSPDCL officials conducted raids in different areas and arrested two people from IED-II division, six from IED-III division and three each from IED-IV, Thoubal and Kangpokpi divisions.
Moreover, electricity connections of seven consumers were disconnected for failure to clear outstanding bill, he continued, while adding that the drive will continue.
