Imphal, August 01 2025:
Assam Rifles on Friday conducted, a wreath-laying ceremony in memory of naik Harka Bahadur Chhetri, rifleman Yam Bahadur Chhetri, and lance naik Lal Bahadur Chhetri, who made the supreme sacrifice on August 1, 1973 when a convoy movement from Dimapur to Imphal came under attack.
Around 10:30 am on the fateful day the convoy comprising seven personnel along with an army driver and an army non-commissioned officer came under heavy fire from unidentified insurgents.

The solemn ceremony began with the laying of wreaths by the senior officials, followed by a moving narration of the incident to instil a sense of pride, honour and remembrance among the ranks.
The tribute event was attended by personnel of Assam Rifles, all of whom paid their respects through wreath-laying and a ceremonial guard of honour, the PRO informed.
