Thoubal, December 30 2022: The kitchen and the attached godown of a house belonging to one Thongam Munal of Khekman Wangmataba Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district went up in flames on Thursday morning, with the fire suspected to have been caused by electric short circuit.

According to reports culled from the spot, the fire was detected around 5.30 am on Thursday when no one was at home.

Nearby neighbours managed to extinguish the flames before it could spread to the surrounding areas.

In this regard, Munal's wife Sarda conveyed that the fire had destroyed some clothes kept for business and most of the items in the affected rooms, totalling up to Rs 5 lakh in monetary value.
