Imphal, February 24: Kasturba Gandhi Institute for Development, Imphal today organised a one-day workshop on 'children as peace volunteers' at Hotel Excellency here.

Inaugural function of the workshop was attended by MLA Dr Usham Deben Singh as chief guest, president of Manipur Voluntary Health Association AK Kerani Singh as guest of honour and president of Kasturba Gandhi Institute for Development, Manipur Kh Momon Singh as functional president.

In the first technical session, Advocate Ch Narendra Singh presented a paper on the topic of 'Protection of child rights in the present conflict situation', environmentalist G Tomba Sharma on 'Preservation of bio-diversities in guise of nature worshipping and K Maharabi Singh of UNYC, Imphal on 'Children as a volunteer force for peace and non-violence'.

During the second session, a group discussion for the participating students coming from various schools was facilitated on the topic of 'Children's response on peace and non-violence'.
