MPP observes 78th anniversary of first elected Assembly

Imphal, October 18 2026: The Manipur People's Party (MPP) observed the 78th anniversary of the first elected Manipur State Legislative Assembly constituted under the Manipur State Constitution Act, 1947 at its conference hall today.

Speaking to media, MPP spokesperson Dr Seram Rojesh said Manipur was among the first in Southeast Asia to adopt adult franchise.

He said national parties now ignore the day and assured that MPP will declare October 18 as a State holiday if it comes to power.

General secretary (admin) Dr K Muktasana said MPP will grant sports autonomy in Manipur if it forms the next Government.
