Imphal, August 09 2025: Unidentified person(s) placed a hand grenade at the residential gate of Manipur University former vice chancellor Prof Hijam Tombi Singh located at Tera Yengkhom Leirak on Saturday.

According to police, upon receiving information about the hand grenade at the residential gate of Prof Hijam Tombi by unidentified persons, a team of Lamphel police rushed to the spot and retrieved it safely.

The motive behind the act and the identity of those responsible remain unknown.

Lamphel police station has also registered a case in connection with the incident, it added.
