Imphal, November 08, 2008:
In all 86 Manipuri Muslims left for sacred Mecca on annual Haj pilgrimage today.
They are the first batch of the total 361 Muslims selected for the annual Haj pilgrimage from Manipur.
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Md Allaudin Khan who was among the first batch of pilgrims said that the first batch included State Haj Committee Chairman Abdul Salam, other functionaries of the Committee and many Muslim social workers.
Another 156 Muslims will leave Imphal for Mecca tomorrow.
The third batch sets off for the annual pilgrimage on November 10 .
