AR seizes areca nuts worth ₹5.29 cr

Imphal, August 28 2024:
Acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles set up a mobile vehicle check post at Chehyang village in Chandel district on August 27, and intercepted 18 vehicles transporting an estimated 61.2 tonnes of areca nuts valued at approximately Rs 5.29 crore along the Indo-Myanmar border.
The operation was part of ongoing efforts to monitor and control illegal activities.
The seized vehicles and the individuals involved were handed over to Forest Department, Chakpikarong, Chandel, according to PRO IGAR(S) .
