Imphal, July 10 2026: To address common issues faced by indigenous communities, Meitei and Naga women leaders from Awang Sekmai, Kanglatongbi and Makhan areas have formed the "North Indigenous Women's Organisation" .

The new body was formed today at the residence of Advanced Women's Society Apunba Meira Paibi, Awang Sekmai president Usham Amubi, with participation of Meira Paibi representatives from 20 villages.

The newly elected office bearers are: president Usham Amubi, vice-president Warepam Sanahanbi, secretary Ruth Thiumai, assistant secretary Soubam Madhabi, and treasurer Ng Tombi.
