Shumang Leela Ningtham Festival begins

Imphal, December 28 2025: The 22nd Shumang Leela Ningtham Festival, organised by Manipur State Shumang Leela Council, began today at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Imphal.

The inaugural function was graced by H Gyan Prakash, Secretary & Commissioner (Art & Culture), Government of Manipur; and P Bilash Singh, Director, JNMDA as the chief guest & president respectively.

The festival, running from December 28, 2025 to January 7, 2026, will feature performances from 9 Shumang Leela groups.

The first day of the festival was marked by the presentation of the play "Eina Helli Nungshiba" by Poklen Pokpa Artistes Association.
