Imphal, September 22 2014:
The School Management Committee (SMC) of Narankonjin Mamang Upper Primary School in a press release today has demanded the authority concerned to transfer the school headmistress in-charge, Ningthoujam Memcha Devi.
The Committee alleged that during her 10 year tenure as the headmistress in charge of the school, parents stopped their children from attending school due to her irregularities, lack of transparency and accountability.
Memcha Devi was then transferred to a different school and the locals took initiative to revive the school and formed SMC.
Consequently, parents started sending their children to school again.
In the meantime, Department of Education (s) transferred N Memcha Devi back to Narankonjin Mamang Upper Primary School against the expectation of the SMC and parents.
The statement warned that SMC and the local populace would close the school if the department concerned does not transfer Memcha by September 30 .
