Imphal, September 29 2026: A queer-trans poetry anthology titled 'MIWA' featuring 27 poets from across Manipur was released today at Hotel Daani Continental, Thangmeiband.

Compiled by gender rights activist, poet and writer Santa Khurai, the collection captures experiences, identities and perspectives of queer and trans community through poetry and gives voice to long-suppressed feelings.

Santa said the poems were compiled from poetry workshops organised by All Manipur Nupi Mabi Association and later sent to an outside publisher.

She said the title 'MIWA' was chosen to reclaim the word, often used to mock marginalised communities, and turn it into positive energy through literature.
