The body of a man who appears to a non-local was fished out from Imphal river near Minuthong under Imphal Police Station at around 7 am today.
Police have retrieved the body and kept at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital for identification.
The deceased man appears to be around 45 years of age and was found clad in a cream-coloured jersey and trouser, and red shoes.
Police suspected that he may have been drown after getting drunk.
One hospitalised A woman who has been staying at her natal home after separating from her husband has been admitted to RIMS Hospital for treatment with serious burnt injuries on her face, neck and chest after her husband set her on fire yesterday.
According to report, the husband identified as Md Firoz of Moijing Wangmataba came to the natal home of his wife identified as Tomba Bibi (28) at Moijing with his mouth filled with kerosene at around 8 pm yesterday and blew the oil on his wife and lit up the match to set her on fire.
The husband is absconding arrest.
