Imphal, July 06 2026: Expressing solidarity with the cease-work strike launched by various Government employees' unions, employees of the Directorate of University and Higher Education staged a sit-in protest at the office complex at Keishampat Nityaipat Chuthek today.

The key demands raised during the protest included raising the retirement age from 60 to 62 years, reviving the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), abolishing the practice of re-engaging retired officers, and restoring Saturday as a holiday, among others.
