Jiri CSOs demand release of 3 Pambei-led UNLF cadres

Imphal, August 07 2026: Reported arrest of three cadres of MPA of Pambei-led UNLF has triggered tension in Jiribam with civil bodies warning of imposing a total shutdown in the district from midnight today.

Jiribam Ima Meira Paibi Lup secretary Nongthom-bam Kumari alleged the three cadres of the Pambei-led UNLF were arrested after they were summoned to the Jiribam police station for a talk.

If the three are not released without any conditions attached, civil bodies including JIMPAL and JDO will be compelled to shut down Jiribam district completely from midnight today, Kumari said.
